Beyond

The wheel turns
around
and as I lay dying
I will not be crying
in the quest for eternal light
at the journey’s end
where my fingers reach out
to where she is waiting
always she is waiting
to take me home to rest
so love can begin again

At Sunrise

Photography by Al Forbes

The sun stretches across the silken drape
In dawns of awareness there’s no escape
A breath of life in the darkness of sleep
With the sensual arousal of a dream
As confused euphoric tears gently weep
For the love that has come to find its voice
In the disarray of a world of change
As the past confounds in misinformed choice
With futures where all things seem new and strange
In new beginnings thoughts and dreams exchange
The ways that delve beyond deeper than deep
As the art of love takes a different shape
Acceptance replaces the panicking scream
And the soul of love once more can rejoice

Summer

I watched you chase the shadows out to sea
while we played in borrowed time
against the odds we felt the summer sun
in those hazy days we thought we had won
the prize of life
of love
I heard your laughter trip across the waves
and dared to dream the impossible
unable to face the inevitable
saying goodbye
but it came anyway
so now I treasure those summer days
precious and free
when I held you
and you loved me.

Draw Near

It is that time of year when I feel that familiar presence.  As the winter days beckon and the nights close in my eyes watch the flames with more intensity. Flames that dance in a non-existent breeze as I seek the tell-tale signs you have come home.

On the rug in front of the fire I inhale the first delicate wisps of Rive Gauche and I pray this time I will feel your touch engulf me like it used to before the darkness came between us. Now there are just ‘if only’s’ left and they are no comfort on a cold winter’s night.

In the hazy firelight I think I see you smile and hear your laughter in the crackle of burning wood. I reach out but you are gone. The tendrils of sweet perfume are rapidly replaced by the aromatic burning pine and emptiness as once again I am alone.

Spring

Through melting snow life begins again
and new pathways meander through
the radiant green of stretching leaves
yawning awake in the cool calming air
and a sparrow flies across the sky
embracing the return of vernal days
while shards of sunlight kiss the skin
with the lips of love reborn

Thoughts at Sunset

Rum Dusk by Belinda A Pearce

Fantasy flies out on the setting sun
As senses sigh on love that lies undone
A meant to be that was not destiny
Replaced by solo dancing ‘neath the moon
While stars fade out across the darkened sea
The unseen tears that weep throughout the night
Are now cast down, defined by cosmic lore
In sad love songs that float upon moonlight
As empty eyes have no need to explore
The solitary footprints on the shore
For they already know where they begun
Where early morning rays came into sight
And the rolling days of eternity
The soliloquy of a loveless tune

Winter

First flakes falling
like gentle kisses igniting the senses
while crumpets lean forward
grasping the warmth of winter flames
eyes close in memory
of seasons past
when love left impressions in the snow
and fingertips lingered here and there
in the dreams of dancing flames.

Inside Her Eyes

Glamping by MaryAD Art

In roseate shadows where dreams are seen
Her fingers tap her thoughts across the screen
The words of love upon hi-tech device
As old as time; for love remains the same
It is no science nor is it precise
As it catches the soul in its embrace
Lingering gazes lead the heart inside
The eyes. For love is where the passions race
As secret desires melt when they collide
Emotive senses we once brushed aside
Retold each night while talking by machine
As typed words become a whispering name
In separated tears that leave no trace
And sleep softly reclines in love’s entice

Autumn

She left on the autumn winds
as weary trees took on their vibrant dream
and the saddened heart walked away from love
while Nature’s clock keeps on ticking
the golden leaves twirled
with spirals of red
dry as the shattered senses
with tears frozen in time
in the acrimony of the impudent winds
thoughts linger among the dance of colours
unwanted now
as the creaking pole casts out
its final line
the winds form a far-reaching good-bye
and the summer died.

The Performance

Since the day they said ‘I do’ they had done the same ritual. Like actors on the stage they pucker up for set piece kiss as lips brush briefly implying affection. Behind her eyes she is seeing a shopping trip the highlight being a cappuccino in the higher end coffee bar on the High Street. She loved watching Mario’s deft hands create a masterpiece in the milky froth just to please her. As she thought about how the twinkle in his eye made her heart skip the wry smile on her lips was just enough to convince her husband she had heard him say goodbye as he left for the office.

He closed the door a little too quickly and drove in the wrong direction to a discreet hotel, where Miranda, his secretary, was waiting his arrival and their early morning meeting.

Dance Free

Tonight I waltz within your arms once more
Across the night sky’s celestial dance floor
As love extends her touch beyond the veil
And should you care to reach out, take my hand
And join me once more so our ship can sail
Upon the everlasting heavenly sea
And if you should ask me the question why
I’ll say again it is my heart’s decree
A whisper of truth upon a soft sigh
That to feel your love again I must die
And let the angels play the music’s score
For in you I have come to understand
That in your love I cannot fall or fail
As for all of time we dance where we are free

Only Tears

How can words speak of love
when there is nothing left to say
and romance is the withered rose
cursed by pain
as affections turn against the tide
a single kiss dies on the lips
softly unspoken
lost in the reciting of ‘life moves on’
like a forgotten dream lost in the sunlight
never to be heard again
the pulse that once could resonate
with passion lies silent
battered and broken
so how does the voice sing
or murmur ‘I love you’
when there are only tears left to cry

Blemished Heart (Strambotto Toscano) in The Poetic Round Forum

The memories return with the autumn leaves
And love’s old bruises burn in echoes of pain
Without an invitation a thought retrieves
The eternal need to feel your touch again
Each night sleeping eyes close as a dream believes
The sun will return to shine after the rain
For in the realms of sleep I know love is real
And in your embrace I am able to feel

Morning Light

Texte: With face more pallid than a daylit star – Rouen Place de la Pucelle by Maria White Lowell

Cadaverous tendrils of early dawn
Invoking light towards a virgin morn
Across the sleeping land where no life stirs
From slumber; resting gently as it goes
Until darkness to the light its hold confers
And in the gentle breath of love’s caress
That brings the waking of a morning kiss
With thoughts as dim as first light’s golden dress
That kiss the heart still yearns to never miss
And love, if it can think, must think on this
As senses waken in a drowsy yawn
Of all the kissing that in love occurs
There is no finer kiss as lips compress
And then say good bye to all that love knows.

Succubae Touch

Emotions drained from veins like crimson blood
Then leave the soul to drown in poisoned mud
Old feelings of hunger, the sensual want
And cravings yearn for the succubae touch
Inscribed like ink stains in emptiness’ font
As flowing silk concealed the pain of love
With sedated thoughts refusing to feel
Her twisted blades flailing cutting it rough
Inside – broken-heart unable to heal
The heat of passion declared not enough
As gentle touches clad in carbon- steel
Absorbed the love in her vampyric clutch
The end is lost in pain’s resounding thud
And passed in a fashion most nonchalant

Well-fitted Glove

Texte: God knows I got to make it on my own – I Want to Break Free, Queen

Where does real love begin if not with self
When others speak of their fortune and wealth
In flashing cash and denying nature
To buy emotions and then call it love
And degradation becomes their rapture
For love is not a thing money can buy
Nor can love be paid by a credit card
The heart cannot be used without a why
When it is left shattered to its last shard
Love is the freedom in a gentle sigh
It is not easy; in fact it is hard
It is wildness without chance of capture
And to the soul it’s a well-fitted glove
That can only be found once we love self.

Marmoreal

Gaze upon her static ecstatic face
Her beauty held within eternal grace
While stony smiles deliver empty cheer
So silky smooth it brings a sensual death
As feelings shed another marble tear
For all that’s gone into memories past
Of times when she would dance a lover’s dream
When suitors stood in line before they asked
To be the one to set her world agleam
But now as destiny has surely cast
She dances in heavenly realms supreme
And all we have are the memories here
Beside silken white stone where we embrace
Her kiss that chills the soul with icy breath

Revealing Secrets

Texte: Doubt whom you will, but never yourself – Christian Nevell Bovee

The distant dream of all that might have been
Before the doubts destroyed the thoughts of trust
And love declined to see another day
As to its end love drifted as it must
Before the light of day could fall in sin

Beliefs inside that love will find away
Hide fears denied by truth within the heart
While haunting dreams that come from long ago
To plant the seeds of doubt where they start
The thought of trust have nothing left to say

But self-esteem must learn to live and grow
With faith in self to do the thing that’s right
A sense of worth within the outer skin
For truth of self will lead the soul to light
Revealing secrets the heart needs to know

Whimsy (Free Verse) in The Poetic Round Forum

In one whimsical moment,
a moment caught within a day dream,
just briefly, I see the beauty of you.
Your smile,
your eyes,
your face;
as I stop in time and space.

I am the whimsy
amusing myself in a day dream
and loving you in a thought
so sure I can feel your lips
brush fleetingly on my cheek
and I smile.
